In 1997 the Old Girls prevented the closure of the school and have played an important role in the school in its restoration. Many prominent female leaders in South Africa today are alumnae of Inanda Seminary including Dr Manto Tshabala-Msimang, Ms Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge and Ms Baleka Mbete.
