Thembisile Xulu

My personal WHY statement: To serve others in integrity as the authentic and purposeful Thembi, so that they are inspired and empowered to become the best version of themselves.
Thembisile Xulu is a dynamic health leader and speaker who has a proven track-record in both public and corporate health. She served as an executive director of Right to care (RTC), an international HIV treatment NGO based in South Africa from 2007 to 2020. Her work with multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, researchers and scientists has supported the development and implementation of HIV prevention, care and treatment protocols in South Africa and beyond. Through the establishment of strong partnerships with the National and Provincial Departments of Health, she built the largest government support programme within Right to Care, through funding from USAID.
Her ability to develop and nurture networks and her passion for scaling up responsive health programmes has taken her all over the world as Chief of Party of the EQUIP project. EQUIP was the first wholly African-led consortium which delivered rapid, innovative HIV treatment and prevention solutions in Africa, Eastern Europe, The Caribbean and South East Asia. Her leadership skills were recognized when she was invited to participate in the prestigious Yale University World FellowsLeadership Development Programme in 2010.
Through her knowledge and experience, Dr Thembi is as comfortable in the board room as she is on the shop-floor providing motivation, education and mentoring in all spheres of health and wellness. She loves interacting with people to find ways to amplify health messages and believes in providing empowerment opportunities for women in business. This was demonstrated during her tenure asManaging Director of Right to Care Health Services, where she supported individuals from a network of nurses to establish their own private businesses to provide health screening services directly to corporates.
Dr Thembi provides motivational, relevant and engaging talks on a wide range of topics from HIV/AIDS, women’s health, leadership, governance, workplace health and wellness, social issues including stigma as well as the new reality of health in the face of a global pandemic.
