Principal's Address
Greetings to our distinguished guests, members of the Board, Inanda Seminary Old Girls, Friends of Inanda, Colleagues from SAHISA, staff, parents, current members, and, most importantly, our remarkable young women, the Class of 2025.
Today, we gather not only to celebrate academic excellence and achievement, but also to honour the journey that has shaped each of you,
a journey of growth, resilience, and purpose. This At Home reminds us that every milestone reached is built on effort, support, and faith. At our school, we believe deeply in our responsibility to shape leaders who think globally and act with purpose.
We provide a space where our girls can take intellectual risks, explore their identity, and build confidence without comparison. Here, you are encouraged to question bravely, to lead with integrity, and to serve with compassion, because leadership, in its truest form, begins with character.
This year, I want to frame my message around an acronym that reflects who we are and what we stand for — This Acronym is GUIDE
G – Generational Sustainability
Our 156-year legacy is a testament to our enduring faith. Each generation has carried the torch for the next, ensuring that this institution remains a place of hope and excellence. You, too, are part of that story. And one day, it will be your turn to give back, to sustain this school for generations still to come.
U – Uplifting Impact
Your education is not just a personal accomplishment; it is a tool to transform lives. Let your knowledge and your voice be used to uplift those around you, to bring light where there is darkness, and hope where there is despair. True impact uplifts others as it elevates you.
I – Inclusive Belonging
Here, you have learned that inclusion is not about sameness — It is about celebrating difference. Wherever you go, build communities where everyone feels seen, valued, and respected. A sense of belonging gives people the courage to become their best selves.
D – Dynamic Capabilities
The world you are entering is fast-changing, unpredictable, and exciting. You have been equipped with the skills to adapt, innovate, and lead with confidence. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, And remember that resilience and curiosity will carry you further than fear ever could.
E – Empowering Relationships
Our strength as a school lies in our relationships, in the spirit of sisterhood, mentorship, and unity that defines who we are. As you leave our gates one day, continue to build relationships that empower and inspire. Together, we go further.
Now, before we look ahead, Let us take a moment to celebrate those who have gone before you, The Class of 2024. Their outstanding results were a reflection of dedication, focus, and pride in representing this institution. They proved that excellence is not achieved by chance, but by consistency, collaboration, and heart. They set the bar high, And to the Class of 2025, I must say with a smile: No pressure!
As you have started your final examinations and getting ready to leave Inanda Seminary, Remember your responsibility to fly the IS flag high
and to give back, just as the women standing before you have done. They have ensured that you are afforded the same opportunities that led to their growth and success. These remarkable Old Girls did not focus only on their own advancement, They also made sure that their alma mater continues to prosper. Through their unwavering loyalty, generosity, and belief in the power of education, They have kept the Inanda Seminary spirit alive. They continue to stand beside and support the school’s leadership, including myself, ensuring that the legacy of this great institution endures. We are who we are — Inanda Seminary Old Girls — because you are.
You, too, stand on the shoulders of these giants — women who once walked the same pathways, sang the same school songs and hymns, and dreamed the same dreams. Their footprints mark the foundation upon which you now stand. They have carried the torch of excellence — and now, it is your turn to carry it forward, to raise the bar, to lead with conviction, and to make your mark on the world. Go out into the world with determination and resilience. Occupy the spaces that you rightfully deserve. Be wise in your choices, kind in your actions, and compassionate in your leadership.
And as you go, never forget the words of Romans 8:28: “All things work together for good to those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.”
